Russia And Europe Could Put an End to The US Imperial Ambitions

Russia And Europe Could Put an End to The US Imperial Ambitions, turning them into a regional power

January 13, 2015

The only reason for a strategic presence in Europe, the United States has been and remains a war. Or - the threat of war. That is why, when the Soviet threat gone, Washington offered Europeans a new phobia. In the nineties the scarecrow was Yugoslavia, in the "zero" - "Al-Qaeda", the last time they did Russia.

Against the background of the Ukrainian crisis, many observers and experts talking about the new "cold war" between Russia and the West and a new "iron curtain" that once divided Europe into two warring parties. Fortunately, such an interpretation of events is incorrect. While incorrect, add because it is in favor of such a development are powerful forces.

In fact, the potential for conflict along the axis of the West - East Europe is the only and perhaps the last means of maintaining the US presence in the Old World. Only intimidate Europeans "threat from the East" can stay in their eyes "indispensable nation," as defined at the time the role of the US in Europe, Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. On the assurances of the head of "Stratfor" George Friedman - the owner of the most famous in the world of private intelligence and research company probably knows what he is talking - the pooling of resources in Europe and Russia would be a disaster for the United States. In fact, it would mean the end of Washington's dream of world hegemony. That is why to prevent such a scenario and construction along the Russian-European border solid wall of mistrust thrown so considerable resources.

In Europe and Russia there are many reasons to seek not only to the partnership, but also to the gradual unification in one economic, infrastructural, social, and, in the future, perhaps, strategic space. In favor of a common security space, in the spirit of the project, which proposed in 2010, Dmitry Medvedev, working all the major factors determining the strategic orientation of the states and their units, namely:

- Geographic. Europe is, in the apt words of Mao Zedong, "a small peninsula in the West," in a geographical sense, a continuation of the continental mass of Eurasia, the entire northern part of which is occupied by Russia.

- History. Although Russia and many European countries were in its history, not one war, their relationship, as opposed to, for example, from Europe and America, have always been able to, say, the diffusion. Human contacts never, even during extreme isolation of the USSR, did not stop.

- Economy. Russia and Europe almost entirely complementary: the abolition of barriers to business and trade would allow to realize the sharing of resources - human, intellectual, natural, technical, financial - in an unprecedented scale in the history of mankind. On the one hand, the convergence of economies would allow partners to emerge from the crisis, on the other - merging economies would make war between them is unthinkable.

- Strategic. All wars between Europe and Russia - the "cold war" is no exception - were behind the decision on where to pass the boundary between them. Each side tried to expand its "strategic depth" at the expense of the other, creating a gray or buffer zones. That's what is going conflict in Ukraine. And the more the victims in this undeclared war, the more people in Russia and in Europe are beginning to understand that this logic has got both sides to a standstill and needs revision. Great border from the Baltic to the Black Sea should be no space bunkers and trenches, barriers to North-South cooperation, and the territory of highways and railways, walking along the East-West line. Only the union under one security space allows both sides to stop being afraid of each other. Direct resources spent on defense, not to protect each other, and from external, including transnational, threats, as shown by the last year, is rapidly amplified.

All objective factors act in favor of rapprochement between Russia and the European Union. For the US, they are also potentially reduce their impact - both in Europe and in Russia.Continental Union from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean make of the "indispensable nation" plus countries and conclude an era of global US ambitions. Without a foothold in Europe, enabling them to divide and conquer, they will return to the role of regional power on the scale only in the Western Hemisphere. That is why today the task of the United States - to embroil Russia and Europe, long time.

Unfortunately, Washington strategists can consider this my job last year extremely successful.
